Need A Front Exhaust Hanger & Lifting Hook

Post by ARCHINSTL »

Since it is definite that I will be installing a new front pipe and catback (hopefully after Winter) - I wonder if anyone has one of these pipe support "flanges" lying around? Toyota calls it a "Bracket, exhaust pipe front."
The original one was cracked when I got it, so I inserted a reinforcement and bolted it to the the original. This would be a good time to replace it. It seems OK, though.
I thought it was a stiffener of some sort as well, but apparently not.
It is interesting that the silver color is antiseize I smeared on both sides 5 years ago - it's done stellar service in protecting the metal.

The aluminum strip encircling the pipe is to make up for slop in the original fitting; I theorize that the rattling eventually caused the bracket to crack.

Something else I could use would be one of the engine lift hook brackets. When the tech in TN replaced the head many years ago, he forgot to reinstall the rear hook - dunno if it is different from the one at the front by the alternator.

Thanks,
Tom M.

You've got a real good excuse to go buy a welder?

the clamp on mine fell off many many seasons ago, I see no reason to replace it. That bracket is also an extra hassle when changing the clutch, removing the trans, etc. You can have mine.
