Need fuel cut off solenoid
Looking for the first (number one) cut off solenoid in the carb (for a 3AC). Can't get them from Toyota and junk yards here in New England don't go that far back. Gotta get my daily driver back on the road! Help! Thanks

I may have one laying around. Since I will be webberizing soon I don't need it. I'll check and get back to you.
It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.

Seth do you still need the solenoid? I sent you a PM a few days ago. I have the single wire solenoid and can get 'er in the mail Tuesday (Monday is a holiday).

Re: Need fuel cut off solenoid
I'm looking for this same part! The 2-wire type for stock carb.
I just purchased an '87 SR5 that is exhibiting issues at idle (high rpm, surging) and minor "dieseling". I do not notice any issues once on throttle.
While going through the routine of preliminary checks posted in the repair section (great advice Petros and xirdneh!), I found that the first fuel cut solenoid wasn't working (no click). Upon disassembly, it looks like someone did a "bypass" repair.
I don't know if this is the source of all of my idling issues, but I'd like to take care of a known issue before trying to diagnose others!
Alternatively, does anyone know if this will work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CARBURETOR-IDLE ... 1929347694
Thanks!

Re: Need fuel cut off solenoid
Its probably not the problem. When they are cut off its the same as when they are working properly. People cut them off because they went bad.
If you remove all vac lines on carb and plug them (put that cut off solenoid back in) the car should idle normal. If it idles bad the carb is bad. Get another one or rebuild it.
I have tried rebuild kits on a lot of those carbs. Also have just taken them apart and cleaned them without a kit. Success rate is not so great. I have better luck getting carbs off dead tercels and using them as is.

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

xirdneh, thanks for the reply.xirdneh wrote:Its probably not the problem. When they are cut off its the same as when they are working properly. People cut them off because they went bad.
I guess you're saying there are no negative impacts during steady idling when defeating the solenoid by this method. That makes sense, but not what I was looking to hear.
I will isolate the carb as the next step in this diagnostic journey.
