Transmission & parts on eBay

Post by RAV6 »

Hello! Now that I'm driving a RAV6 (RAV4 with V6) 4WD with 200 more horsepower than my old '82 4WD Tercel I've decided to pass my remaining parts on to other beloved Tercels in need of TLC. Wow, are the memories coming back of the places I took the wife and now adult kids in that car!

Okay, back to business and some background.
The transmission as I recall is one I bought as a spare when the lady at the parts yard gave me the price for a "normal" one by mistake, not the premium they were going for back then. I must have seen the donor car to know the mileage.

I separated the front differential as suggested on this forum to reduce shipping cost.

Had an extra input shaft for some reason.

The halfshafts are as described.

I also have a factory 1983 Tercel Repair/Service manual which I thought I listed but must have skipped a step at 2AM! It's in used but good condition.
I'd sell it for $30 + shipping.

Thanks, Fred

My tercel:: 1984 tercel 4wd SR5 wagon

My tranny on the '84 just pucked out one whole roller bearing as the oil was being drained along with other sorted metal bits... Sorry for the low ball offer but...Would you take 250 for both diff and trans shipped to 84105? Would go to the junk yards but my free time is short.
Thank you,
Rob

verify it is the correct year, the '83-84 have different ring and pinion ratios than the '85 and newer. You can swap the different years but you have to also swap the rear diff with it so the front and rear diff ratios match.
'87 Tercel 4wd SR5 (current engine swap project)
'84 Tercel 4wd (daily driver, with on going mods)
'92 Mazda MPV 4wd (wife's daily driver)
'85 Tercel 4wd DLX auto(daughter's daily driver)
'01 Honda Civic (other daughter's daily driver)

If we can do it outside of eBay I'd go $200 shipped on the trans, the only part you really need, and $100 shipped on the diff - effectively my Buy-it-now prices with $150 worth of free shipping. I'd cancel the auctions to save eBay fees and ship Fedex Ground ASAP. Shoot me an email if it's a go. Fred

Swapping out just the tranny is the easiest and quickest fix and you don't have concerns about the differential ratios (altho your '84 and my '83 are a match). I'll ship it in fifth gear so there's no chance of it ending up in two gears when re-installed on a front differential.

Sold and shipped the differential guts to a guy in WA. :)

Relisted the transmission for N. & S. America. I know Tercel 4WDs were pretty popular in S. America so it should benefit someone and leave a nice space in my garage!

Everything's gone! :) Got $99 plus shipping on the transmission. Will probably clear $75 after all fees for a whole lot of work but I just couldn't toss it out. The buyer says he "Just got an 83 Tercel that is stuck in third gear. Am wanting to get it going. Hope to slip this transmission in and repair the old one for the shelf."
