Well, I called on the gold SR5 in St. Louis -
amazing low mileage and pretty darn clean, especially for a probable Missouri-we-use-salt-on-our-roads-car!
This seller is a wholesaler-auction place for insurance companies and car dealers; the average public cannot walk up and buy the cars. The phone person said I would have to go through a broker and would cost "somewhere over" $100, but she could not give a figure. I'd still have to haul it away.
If my city were less anal about keeping non-licensed vehicles in a driveway (without a garage), I would be sore tempted.
However, I found out that it is an insurance turn in from Allstate. If it does not sell this Friday - which seems likely, given its lack of desirability from most save US - then I will call Allstate and see what happens next. I would sure like to get some goodies from the interior - mostly the seats. And I wish I could pick it apart at leisure; imagine - a trans with 84K, and a later version to boot! And for lagniappe - 4 OE hub caps - and - an intact luggage cover!
I'll keep posting. I wonder where this one has been hiding in STL - totally new to me.
Thanks for the link!
Tom M.
P.S. The silver '84 SR5 that toughtercel found in Huntsville, AL, looks nice inside as well, especially with 280K miles. That hood ornament looks familiar - don't we have a member (or two) with that ornament who was located in the Southland? It has an inclinometer, too!

RE the TOPAZ car here In St Louis...I called Allstate here in STL last week and an agent promised me he would get back to me with contact info. He did not, despite me leaving a couple of followup calls. The auction house would not give me any info when I called Thursday to discover the disposition of the car.
It was not supposed to be on the block until October 1st, but I guess it was subject to a prior sale.
I sure would have liked some interior pieces like the seats and the luggage cover.
Oh, well - I'll contact Allstate again and see if I get blown off again.

I bet there's an app for that. Can anyone with an iphone confirm? Not as cool as an old skool inclinometer, but gets the job done nonetheless.ohcanada_00 wrote:I want an inclinometer so freakin bad.....
It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.
