we need something a bit bigger, for bush trips, and this is just down the street from us.
i'm considering buying it.

i had a look at it, it's straight as, no dints, no scratches, the roof-rack and bull bar look good, and the winch works.
interior looks fine too, apart from the dash looking a little old, but thats to be expected. Low Kms is a bonus.
the owner says it has no problems and runs fine.
two spare wheels, one on the bonnet and one on the back.

i'm tempted, but we'll have to drain our bank accounts, and live on rice for the next two weeks.

I had a friend in high school was was infatuated with the LandRover, over the years he bought several of them (mostly wrecked ones) and fixed them up. I often helped him, but he never found them very reliable (these were older models) and parts were always costly. The diesel might be different, and they do hold up pretty well in terms of durability. They are the classic "safari" vehicle. Not very fast, and the early ones rode pretty harsh. They likely hold their value pretty good down under, might be worth a look if you do not mind constantly tinkering around with it to keep it running. Fun to own just for nostalgia reasons.

My friend eventually gave up on them for the subaru, and later a toyota 4x4 truck. He did extensive modifications to several that he bought. I do not think he has ever bought another landrover again.
