the car is a 1984
it was an automatic tranny and had A/C
now its a manual tranny and removed A/C
the wires that were attached to the '87 manual tranny (three connect at tranny then on to starter and top front of engine temp and whatever, in the middle it branches off to the following big plugs)
it has the same end plugs as the automatic wires
a big green one and a big white one (near driverside wheel well)
what are the chances that i can just plug in and have at least a few things work?
or do i need to worry about frying something?
also need to know what to do with the wires that connected to the automatics shifter (in the car)
i imagine some of those wires were the neutral/park start switch
do i need to connect some wires together to get this started
i am so poor at understanding car wireing that its almost shamefull

tranny swap wiring ? (auto to manual)
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
Re: tranny swap wiring ? (auto to manual)
Find the right wiring diagrams? They show the wire colors and details of the plugs (connectors). Probably shows the difference for the manual vs the auto. Main harness is likely the same for auto and manual.

i finish the car today (or so i thought, check out the Parts forum "don't take their word.....")
the 4wd light came on like it was supposed to
i did not get a chance to check the back-up lights or extra low lights
but i have confidence
i went to a guys house who has the FSM supplemental on wiring harnesses
he was also a retired electrical guy so he read the diagrams and checked out the pin numbers on the white plug
comparing '83 automatic with '85 manual
he determined everything would work without and modification (4wd light, back-up light and 4wd extra low light)
