auto to manual tranny convert
I'm close to finishing this conversion but am stuck at the wiring part. The '87 manual tranny has three elec. plugs (back-up, 4wd, extra low gear lights). Can I take the '87 manual tranny wire harness and sub it into the auto car? Will that get any of the three lights working? Will i need to change the instrument panel? I have several from manual cars.
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
Re: auto to manual tranny convert
Apply 12v to the old wiring connectors to see which wire lights each light...then wire the manual switches to these wires? You could remove the old connectors or maybe reuse them again by splicing them in?
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

Re: auto to manual tranny convert
I should think you can just plug in the manual tranny wire harness into your car. It does not seem like they would have a totally different wire harness for the auto car (but they might). IIRC there is a separate sub-harness that plugs in beside the engine that goes to the tranny, oil sender and a few other items, it seems to me you should be able to unplug 4 or 5 connentors and plug in the new harness.
Good luck.
