Re: evolution
That is one ugly car (thing?). does it come in 4wd? Not likely. That front bumper-thing looks vulnerable and expensive to fix, where is the ground clearance? If we are going to drive an ugly little box, at least let it be 4wd.

Re: evolution
It does have a very bird like face, but I gotta agree it's hideous! I wonder how you get to the engine to work on it.
While we're complaining, aren't car show model's much hotter too?

Re: evolution
check out this "skin-on-frame" sports car by BMW. I have built a number of skin-on-frame kayaks and boats, it is light and inexpensive to build, I had considered it for a custom sports car body too, but BMW beat me to it.

Re: evolution
Pretty cool idea, but I don't think we'll be seeing skin on frame cars anytime soon. I think Saturn and others have it right - plastic body panels work great. They look like metal, you can wash and wax them, they resist dents/door dings/rust, and are lightweight and cheap to make. But it's funny they have Chris Bangle in that video. He's been a hated figure in BMW circles because people blame him for mucking up their styling for a long time, can't say I disagree. I thought he does not work for BMW anymore, but I could be mistaken.
It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.
