4x4ing the Tercels............Lots of Pics

Post by Barto »

Well a couple of us went up into the mountains for the day and had some fun. The Suspension upgrade on the grey one worked amazingly well. More than enough articulation but the weber sucks when on any real incline.
the black one is bone stock with 155/80/13's on it.

Here's the Pics.

Clearcuts are a great way to blow a tire.

What exactly does this mean? "the weber sucks when on any real incline"

What happens on an incline? I have never heard of this problem with weber carbs, I even knew people that put them on VW powered dune buggies. Perhaps you need to adjust your float level?

Another reason to convert to fuel injection, EFI does not have to be level or run properly.

When I was researching vac and other info after installing the Weber, I found a number of mentions of this on Toy 4x4 sites - I did not save any links, as it was not relevant to my quests. Just Google something like "Weber on hills" or similar.

Hey those wheels on the grey one look just like mine. Are they plymouth voyager wheels?
That's what I have on the pumpkin

I just counted and yours have 16 spokes and mine have 18. Otherwise, very similar.

They are off of a audi 4000s I belive my buddy works at a metal recycler and came home with the whole set for free.

And as for the weber it is a design flaw that makes it suck on incline. the fact that the float open vents or pours out of the jet access which is what makes them poor. I have one on my 80' 2wd. pickup and it is the shits too. Asswell as all of the other 4wd toyota trucks I have seen with them when out in the bush. I hitnk that kevin is going to go with the efi from a suzuki. and I will get his weber for my new Celica, that will never see any grade that will screw with it.

the celica.
