It can be done! Easy flywheel swap over too. Be prepared to cut a large hole in your hood, and to replace the trans everytime you replace the clutch.

Go all the way and put in a heavier GTS rear axle with LSD. Or as an better alternative put in the rear axle (and heavier drive shaft) from a Corolla all-trac, it already has the 4.1 final drive ratio, it uses the same (4)x100mm bolt pattern as the tercel, and the same LSD will fit in the housing.

Hummm, and while you are at it you might see if the heavier fronts struts from the Corolla All-trac will fit in the Tercel too.

Than all you have is the Transmission durability issue.

Good luck

Get ready for problems then..

These transmissions are very weak, very very weak. 7a-ge will blow through these trannies very quickly. I would have 3 or 4 transmissions on hand, and i'd train up on how to swap trannies quickly.

Or I'd update the transmission, and just swap over to a more solid 5 speed and attach a transfer case.

Synthdesign wisely chose the 4age because it has right around, but not over, 100 foot pounds of torque. That seems to be the magic # where the z series trans tends to explode. A healthy 7age will have over 100ft/pounds for sure so the advice of stocking up on transmissions was sound.

A ported and polished, stoked 4ac can destroy a T4WD trans in a few abusive downshifts. I think the 7AGE would be cool anyway. As for fitting up a 3AC oilpan, I'm guessing you notice the 7afe use a two piece pan system. There is no physical way this could clear the rack and front diff. I'm not sure, but I beleive the crank sits lower in the pan than any other A-Series motor. I'm not sure if the 3ac pan will clear the crank w/o being highly modified.
The 4age swap is a bit troublesome so far, but no issues that can't be resolved until I too start blowing trans' down the line.

Either way. let us know what you come up with. I'm also curios what clutch you might choose to handle that power? Your right hand drive right? Swap to a hydraulic clutch pedal maybe?

One could always rework the engine cradle, drop the engine down a few inches, and convert to full rear wheel drive utilizing a Corolla 5-speed built up a bit, as well as a GTS rear end. Or, if you really want to go buck wild, pound the firewall into submission and stuff a 5M-GE under the hood with a Supra 5-speed and rear axle. Heck, why stop there? 1.5JZ-GTTE anybody? With a 6-speed and 8.5" rear end pushing 1200RWHP?

See if you can send Teddy a personal message asking about the 7AGE. He seems to know it well, down to what timing belt to use to get the 4AGE head to work on the taller block!
