Hey Guys-
Got the motor back running again, but can't figure out what the high pitch noise is.. Bearings? Water Pump? Video Help Also, have to change out that oil pan gasket. Easy change?
Hard to tell from the video and with the engine idling fast. Most of what I hear seems to be air rushing into the carb so replacing the air cleaner should quiet it down a lot (that is one of the functions of the air cleaner housing). Also there may be extra noise from the timing belt, putting the cover back on may help. But before you do check the bearing in the timing belt tensioner - slacken the belt (don't let it slip timing) and see that the tensioner bearing rolls smoothly and doesn't wobble.
In my experience most other noises are water pumps - from a buzzing whine to what sounds like rocks rattling in a can.
Other ideas for high pitch noises are alternator bearings and bad air leaks (but it wouldn't idle with air leak).
Replacing the pan gasket with the engine in the car seems like a tight fit (might not be possible). Originally the pan was glued on with silicone gasket maker. Very easy if the engine is out and clean.
I hear the whine - mostly from the shots under the bumper - PS pump? Easy to unhook belt to isolate.
Ditto sdoan's remarks.
You should be getting a funny idle - it appears that you did not plug the HIC hose which goes from the carb to the valve in the air cleaner. Necessary for setting up carb.

make sure all the belts are tight, a slipping pulley could do it. if the belts need to be replaced, take em all off and start the car. dont do it for very long=no water pump. does it have a/c? could be the clutch bearings on the compressor. does the noise change when you turn on the a/c?
Best bet on the oil pan is to carefully re-tighten them...just evenly snug them ALL up. But if you overtighten them...you will warp the pan flange and then you are up the repair creek of no return.
Noise sounds like a bearing...check all you can get to with a rubber tube...with one end stuck in your ear...or a stethoscope? Could be waterpump...alt...t belt idler?
