Will these fit the tercel?

Post by scotisha »

Hey all,

I have been trying all the wreckers in Western Canada for 14" rims for my tercel (I want some tire options :D) but have found nothing for under $125 each. I found these and was wondering if they will be a good fit?

I read somewhere that the tercels are 4x100 and have a 54.1mm hub ring and that the 91-95 escorts are a direct fit. These look like 4x100 and I am wondering how I can measure the 54.1mm? I guess that I could get some spacers but I would like it to be a direct fit. And are the rims supposed to be 5" or 5.5"

Thanks,

S

The 14" steel escort wheels I'm using fit exactly on the toyota hubs...both lugs and hub part....mine are slightly wider and have more track than stock wheels.

Find a set of the 15" Escort GT alum wheels? They had low profiles on them.

So I found some 14" Escort Alloys on Kijiji for $50 with only $30 shipping! I am getting some GY Assurance Tripletreads for them. It was a toss up with the Nokian WRG2's but they didn't have them in stock and I need tires now...

I was wondering about bigger tires for my tercel since I lifted it.. I was thinking 14's would be ideal.. bigger but not too big. But the diameter I was thinking of was going to be 2" bigger then what Im running now (175/80R13), in 14's to get the 2" was gonna have to be 195/80R14 Im wondering if jumping to a 15" rim would be more cost efficient and the size be more available? Not thread jacking just thought since we are all discussing wheels and whatnot

jumping to 15'' would be better, there are more options available when it comes to aggressive traction.

Is there any difference in performance or ride with a bigger rim size?

Technically a bigger diameter wheel/tyre combo will make your gearing a little taller my 14" make my car use say 300rpm less at 100kmh which may be an issue if you go off road a bit. Also my Speedo is about 6% off. You can use http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to find out speedometer difference.

My new tyres seem better all round, especially have a better ride around the cobblestones and potholes around where I live and seems a lot smoother on the highway quieter to - but this might also be due to my choice of tyre.
