when i bought the car i was told the compressor locked up so he cut the belt. I had a new compressor on my other 85 terc. swapped them yesterday and today and the clutch wont engage. The ac fuse was blown, probably because the old compressor locked up. replaced that and still clutch no worky. Jumpered the compressor to pos post put freon in it that way. so the clutch does work....and another thing, the a/c switch doesnt light up..is it supposed to? oh, and when i was in there rep[lacing the compressor the wrench hit the condensor fan (whitch also dont come on) and sparked....the book says check the fusable link..where????any help people? i want this fixed before work tuesday...thanks
side note: replaced the thermastat and the slight hesitation is now gone...the old one's seal was detiorated and was allowing water through it....
a/c clutch not engaging
Re: a/c clutch not engaging
Nor sure where the link is..mine won't work if the heater control isn't on COOL and the fan on at least the first notch. Check fuses...relays...big one in the box by the brakes. Always a good idea to pull the neg cable?

Re: a/c clutch not engaging
fuses and relays all check out ok....well the ones under the hood, the ones in the kick panel by the driver have nothing to do with a/c. ill just go down the list of things in the fsm.
Re: a/c clutch not engaging
ac works...took glove box off to look at the pressure sw. and found the 10 amp fuse. didnt know there was stuff on pass. side kick panel.
