Shift Shaft Seal

Post by Highlander »

I was just looking at Rockauto's Website at the halfshafts and happened to check out the manual transmission section. Does anybody know if the Shift Shaft Seal is the seal at the top of the shift lever?(TIMKEN Part # 221207)--You know, the one that makes shifting difficult because it lets water into the shift rod area.

Dunno - but - since it fits so many different makes, models, and years - I'd say not. Additionally, quite a few of the cars listed are automatics.

Just guessing...but I's say the "shift shaft seal" is the seal on the shaft going into the trans from the shift box...not the boot that goes over the shift lever.
