Wanted: '84 Tercel Tailgate 'striker' - Australia

Post by Sylvester »

Hi all.

First post here. Love the forums here!

I'm chasing after a tailgate 'striker' - The bit that keeps the back tailgate closed which mounts on the rear floor (Not the latch mounted on the door - It's fine!). Mine is rusted beyond repair and would probably stop me from getting a roadworthy.

I can't even find any Tercels in the local wreckers and after pricing one from the local dealership ($100+ Ex Japan - 3-4 weeks!) I decided to give it a go on here with hopes that someone anywhere would be able to help.

Cheers!

I'm in Melbourne and can't get a rear rhs tailight. but if you call up the wreckers here and find a striker. I come down to Torquay every week for a surf and could drop it off if you can get it delivered to my place in the city. Dunno if that helps. I'll message you also if I find one

Thanks Mattel.

I'll do some chasing around down here over the next week or so and see if I can find a RHS tail light for you too. I'm only about a block from the main highway, so not far out of your way if you are going past.

Cool, thanks. if you find one just message me and I will sort out payment straight away. I'm hoping to pay around $50 or less for a tailight.

I can ship you a striker from the US if you can't find one there. Priority mail international would cost about $20, and you'd have it in about a week.

Excellent!
PM me with exact details/costs and I'll arrange payment for you.

I'm also after a battery clamp. I can't find an aftermarket one here that bolts onto the inner fender as per the original one. (Toyota told me that there were 2 different batteries, thus 2 different clamps for the Tercel. And, as I need to replace the battery anyway, I'm not too fussed as to which one I get). Let me know if you can also get your hands on a battery clamp and all costs involved.

Cheers!
