Holy crap did that get out of control a few threads down...
So yeah...
What are peoples opinions on the Lamborghini Countach? Heck, we need something to discuss, so lets discuss this hot piece of Aluminum!

poor fuel economy, does not come in 4wd, and likely not very reliable.

You can get over 20mpg! LOL.
Doesn't come in 4wd? And? Neither does the Supra but I sure as hell wouldn't turn one down!
If you want AWD, you'd better look to a Gallardo or Murcielago or even a Reventon.
Not reliable? Well, it depends on your perspective. Compared to a Toyota? HEEEEEEEEEEEECK no. Compared to Chevy 350D? Uhhh, yeah.
Plus, if you keep it below 6k it'll probably last a lot longer, not to mention modern oils.
I own 2 models (One an LP400 and one an Anniversario LP5000QV) and a large poster-picture of a white LP5000 QV (non-Anniversario)
Not to mention the first car I worked on was a......... You guessed it! LP500 kit-car. No joke. I started helping the neighbor with that back in the late 5th-early 6th grade. Even though "working on" meant tightening down some nuts he pointed to and grabbing some tools.
Its still not quite operational. He's trying to procure a Getrag 5-speed to mate to his Caddie Northstar V-8 (chipped and otherwise built to right around 600HP... more than the original's 325hp<1970's LP400>!)
I know its HP ratings were kinda low compared to nowadays (450-ish for the LP5000QV Euro) and its top speed was relatively low as well (right around 195mph) but its sexy. The first "Wedge" and first of its kind. It walked all over its contemporary Ferrari (not to mention everything else!) and it's so so... Primal... You and the road. None of this silly traction control or ABS stuff (Hey, sounds like the Terc!) Its a car that if you don't know how to drive, WILL kill you. Sure, there's plenty others that fall in that category.
I dunno.
Say money is no object at all. You've got $4 trillion sitting in a bunch of banks across the world.
What are you getting?
And I'm not talking "something economical" I'm talking you have all the money you could imagine, so what would absolutely do it for you more than anything anywhere? Remember, it doesn't matter if it costs $20,000 a week to drive.
You driving an old Tucker Torpedo? 25mpg out of a 335CI flat-6 helicopter engine? One of the something like 49 on the road?
How about an old totally-restored, non-rodded 38 Model A with Rumble seat?
40's Mercedes? 20's Rolls?
Ford Pinto with a big-block?
AMC Gremlin?
Buick SkyLark GSX 455GS Stage 2?
1963 Corvette Stingray Split-Window 360HP 327V-8?
1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR?
Porsche Spyder?
Insert your own?
And just for anyone environmentally concerned, part of the purchase will involve any emissions stuff you are willing to compromise the original with. Like, say, Catalytic Converters (modern efficient ones), Particulate filters, fully electronic fuel injection, higher compression ratio with more efficient chambers (and accompanying extra NOx catalyst), modern efficient EGR systems... You name it. If they can get a 6.4L Powerstroke diesel V-8 to output less emissions than a 4-cylinder Honda Civic, you can get your modern, classic, anything any engine to at least output on par with a 90's Civic. lol. And with that kind of money, you could get it to output exhaust cleaner than the air in a smoggy city! Imagine a high-revving, 7.6L V-8 "air-filter" zipping along L.A. freeways at any time when the LA freeways move a noticeable amount.

I would like to talk about milder performance cars that get good mileage and are reliable.
I've got a brother who has an investment Ferrari...I've never seen it or driven it and he's afraid to start it due to the timing belt...been replaced but if it goes...there goes the engine...and probably a good bit of the value of the car?
I once worked on a another bros E-Jag and managed to loose a little part that was supposed to be in the mechanism that adjusted the t-chain tension...he had a real mechanic eventually fix it...but he couldn't find the little steel part.
Gotta have the bucks to run them there fancy rides...and with the market tanking a lot of those high fliers may be testing out their wings soon...if you get my drift.
How's that finely engineered Camry doing?

Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

when people say these cars are hard to work on its either all in their head, or they've never worked on them before.

Did you know Ferruccio started making tractors? Cars was something he wanted to get into for fun.
Heh.
The Reventon is sold out >.< Doesn't mean you can't go to one of the owners and offer him more than he bought it for. Or she.

I had the same experience in an early 90's porshe 911 awd. Gearbox felt like it was from a large pick-up truck. The engine sounded like shit (I hate the sound of boxer motors), and the car felt really heavy. I'll stick to my MR2 thanks. And with the turbo motor I'm building for it, I think it'll be faster (accel and corners...not top speed with my gearing).shogun wrote:drove a friends countach the gearbox is like a tractor you cant see any thing its scarry funny scarry
