Weber Linkage Sticks

Post by Snax »

In short, the linkage at the carburetor cam has a little bit of slop in it that sometimes prevents it from from bottoming the cam against the idle speed stop screw. It's not a big deal, but this little hitch can mean the difference of a couple hundred rpm when letting off the throttle and idling, It's easy enough to remedy with a shallow quick blip of the pedal, but that wastes gas and seems like something I should not have to do.

So has anybody with a Weber experienced this same issue, and if so, have you figured out a solution?

I know that the cause of it is basically in the pushrod mechanism off of cam, but I can't figure out an easy way to solve it without just drilling it out and installing bushings or something like that.

I've had a lot of problems with this too; especially in warm weather, it gets really sticky. Make sure that you didn't tighten the linkage too much onto the throttle shaft, as it can pull the butterfly against the barrel of the carb, and cause problems. Also, make sure things are nice and clean, and maybe add a bit of silicon lube.

You mentioned this problem in the post "wont idle..." below. I wrote you a reply and put in a picture. Have a look.

Ok, thanks for that. I hadn't really thought about how to fix it too much, but I'm pretty sure the spring would do it. I'll have to check how tight the nut is on the cam too. It didn't seem like it was causing additional friction, but obviously with the sticking, any is too much.
