Ok, so I've got my hands on an '83 sr5 that has been sitting untouched for about 5 years. It was parked because it has a bad radiator and possibly some other minor issues. So, other then the the rad and probably a carb and new gas any other major considerations with these cars if it's been sitting for a while? I know the tires are most likely dead and the oil is probably bad. Oh and it's full of hornets, FULL!

When I picked up my Tercel from my father in law the last time, it'd been sitting for the better part of a year. I jump started it and drove to the gas station. When I opened the gas door, there was a wasp nest as big as the door inside it. I got stung twice before they flew away. Besides that, he'd lost the gas cap.
After that last time, I never let my father in law use the Tercel again. Every time he drove it, he'd complain about something being wrong with it, then park it till the battery went dead. The car loves me, but it can't stand him.

I'd remove the plugs and put about a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder...then turn it over using the front pulley bolt. If that goes OK...then change the oil and filter. New radiator New battery. New gas. Try to turn it over with the starter and the plugs out...with the plug wires grounded.
As far as the hornets.....RUN!

I actually saw an old 350 Chevelle Malibu Classic that had sat in a field for about 17 years (no joke) that I helped go rescue. We poured in some Octane-Booster and Sea-Foam laden gas to top off the tank, cranked it for a while... Weird buzzing under the carb cleaner. It caught, the buzzing got crazy for a sec then was gone. After running like crap for about a minute we shut it down and took the carb cover off. Low and behold- A now empty hornets nest inside the thing. How sad- to be eaten alive by your own home.
