Lifting the Free Terc...

Post by spamalope »

So, I'm going to be getting an '83 terc 4wd wagon for free (well, $300+ in dmv fees) and I'm looking to lift it up a bit for a trek into the Oregon wilderness over the summer. So, I've found people have used various Junk yard springs to lift there tercels a bit, Saab springs, TJ springs, etc.

Anyone have an idea about what works the best and what kind of lift you can get out of these wagons before you start to run into suspention geometry issues. This isn't going to be a daily driver by any means, and infact i'm going to use it for a fake sasquatch Hunting documentary I'm going to make over the summer, so ugly is glorious.

Maybe we can make (unless it's aleady made and I'm super noob) a thread about different people's spring/shock combos. I'd love to get like 3-4 inches extra, but then again who doesn't. Read that as you like...

Might I recommend a vacuum-based suspension? 8)

Welcome Spamalope
I suggest spending an evening of research going back thru the past replies to suspension questions and answers. There is a wealth of info in here that will tell you used vehicle parts that can do what you want...etc.
It is all here in one of the forums just have to look.

I hope that others will give a Newbie a warm welcome and worthwhile suggestions.

I have a couple ideas in mind but I am going to wait until the project is under way to show it off. I am getting a place to work on my car soon so it won't be long.
