Help... shocks for hatch

Post by forehead_04 »

So i need new shocks.... any recomendations for a 84 HATCH. I want to get the most performance oriented shock possible for my car. This is what ive found so far... Is their anything better. If not which one is better from the two below.

http://www2.partstrain.com/products/Eng ... --006.html

- KYB GAS-A-JUST SHOCK ABSORBER
-->Gas-a-Just® High Performance Shocks' higher gas pressure keeps tires glued to the road while its superior strength monotube configuration provides durability and fade-free performance.

- Monroe Sensa-Trac Shock-Absorber
---> Sensa-Trac shocks and struts have groove tube technology that features precision tapered grooves that allow fluid to flow freely around the piston, creating a smoother ride under the wide range of driving conditions. During emergency maneuvers or braking, the piston travels beyond the grooves firming up the ride for added safety and control when it is needed most.

- thanks for the help

The Gas-A-Just you have listed there is for a 4WD Tercel (AL25), and not your 2WD hatchback (AL21). Your car has struts all the way around, not struts on the front and shocks on the back as on the 4WDs. Your only choice on that website will be KYB GR-2 strut assemblies for the rear, and strut inserts for the front.

A true high-performance choice would be Koni yellows, but I don't think any were ever made for the Tercel. You might be able to find a set of Boge for a Corolla FX16, which should work.

The KYBs would probably be a little higher performance thn the Sensa-Tracs. Those Monroes might be a step above the original struts, but not much.

BTW, whether they're listed on the website as shock absorbers or struts, they're going to be struts. The real question regarding those Monroes is whether they're complete strut assemblies, or just inserts.
