Vibration when I turn left. Click when I turn right.

Post by antiparticle »

1. When accelerating up hill around tight corners and I turn Left my whole car vibrates increasingly the more I turn, when I turn Right in the same conditions I hear a clicking sound from what sounds like something in the front suspension. When I am going downhill the symptoms dramatically decrease often to nothing, and I get none of the symptoms (as far as I can gauge (I'm no mechanic) being new to this car) in regular city driving. The alignment seems to pull to the right. Axle? cv boots and joints? Help.

2. When braking I get a pulsy stop. I hear a quiet click from the drivers side rear brake and what sounds like a bad pad and a warped rotor on the front corresponding with the pulse.
Also when stopped on a flat surface, if I press the brake pedal over and over again it makes my engine want to stall!?

I have more problems with the car but this seems like a good place to start.
Any help would be very appreciated.

thanks. AA :?:

Definitely sounds like you have a bad axle(s) in point one. In point 2, pulsing is a sure indicator of a warped rotor. They are cheap to replace on these cars; so I'd start there.

Good luck!

CV axle no good I'd say.
Its related to vacuum why it'd want to die. The more you squish that pedal, the more air gets in via the booster, creating a rather large vacuum leak condition which can cause some stall.
Do you have a runout guage?
I always suggest that people replace their brakes when they get a car if they don't know the status of it and are wary. We're talking drums, shoes, hardware, wheel cylinder, rubber hoses, rotor, pads, maybe caliper but only if you need it (at least clean and lube it using a proper caliper lube for the slide pins) and do a thorough flush of the brake fluid. Just smart to do.
