problem with accel....

When ever I give it gas my tercel hesitates like crazy. If I give it a little gas it doesnt seem to do it much. It takes forever for me to get up to speed. If there is no load on the engine and I rev it up with it in neutral or with the clutch in it revs up fine. But when there is a load then it has a big problems.

I have absolute no idea what nthe problem is for sure but I "say" its the carb ...My car is doin the ecact same thing ..its almost like the second barrel aint workin like it should...so I have a new Weber that should have been here 3 days ago and as soon as it gets here I'll install and HOPEFULLY it will fix my problem.

I'm curious to see the responses of the other guys.

I'd say either your ignition timing is WAY off, or not advancing with rpm/throttle. OR, your carb is running too rich/lean, or maybe the choke is not disengaging.

Try taking it out on back roads, loosen the dist hold down enough to turn it, rotate it some to see if you get some power without pinging. Might be your vac advance? Timing belt has jumped a tooth or cam timing is off?
