Hi all,
I am just joining this group, I own 2 1983 Tercel 4x4's one I use for parts, currently I am in the process of rebuilding the parts car enginge as the other car engine died after 215K miles, I just finished porting the intake, head and exaust... Why? because I can I guess.. need to Polish everything and take the head in for the valves to be done and then can start putting it back togather...
I have plenty of parts available to sell cheap either directly or via ebay and I can accept paypal.
I am a professional mechanic, I currently work at a speciality 4wd shop. I am thinking of lifting my GOAT and adding custom bumpers front and rear, actually the bumpers are take off's from a FJ40 frame up restoration I am doing for one of our customers.
Wondering if anyone else has lifted their Goat?
For the group moderator, please edit out all the obnoxious unrelated posts or add me to you moderator list and I will do that. Thanks

Re: Another New Member, HI!
Hey DJ, welcome to our forums! It's great having another hardcore tercel 4wd'er in our midst! We do our best to delete obnoxious posts around here, or move ones that are in the wrong location, but please let us know if you feel we've missed something. There are areas for unrelated posts to go (such as Off Topic). But we definitely try to keep things clean. After you've been around for a while, I don't see why we couldn't make you a moderator. There are only a couple of us now, but as the forum grows, it'll eventually become too much for the two of us. Keep us up-to-date on your tercel project, and post some pics if you can!Soutthpaw wrote:Hi all,

Welcome !
OMG - a real wrench ! ! !
Now - don't look askance at our musing and rambling and amateur guessing...
Question: My "4-wheelin'" (hah!) days were in an M38A1, so - what is a GOAT? Back in the day, a GOAT bore a Pontiac badge...

Yeah, when he said he was lifting his GOAT, I wanted to go back to hometown and kill him. Thought he meant GTO!
Have others? Yeah. Theres some 2 inch lifts buzzing around.
You hail from the Springs? Was born there and lived the first 3 years of my life there. Then moved up north. Penrose Community Hospital. I shook down that direction every few months to visit a buddy who lives in Black Forest.
Powerstroke eh? My dad has a 99.5 F-250, lifted 4 inches. Big Red we call her. My moms beast is a green Excursion. If you are a CPSC guy, CG says hi. Care to know how Nitrous works? lol.
I'm no pro mechanic, but I've outwrenched a few professed mechanics, and have left some pros dumbfounded with random ramblings about Electromagnetic clutch-lock diesel-electric sedans. lol.
We do have some random rambling that are a tad out of place (see above lol) but its typically not completely outrageous or obnoxious. I think of this as a more conversation-esque setup than a purely formal board.
Good to have you!

goat is what some others refer to the tercel as sort of a little thing that can go just about anywhere.
Electromagnetic clutches are usually incased in epoxy and over time the epoxy can crack due to repeated heat build up an then a wire on the windings will short to the case or lock up plate. or bearing or piston freezes and just tears everything up such as in AC compressors.
My F250 has 4" of lift on the front and 5" lift on the rear so when pulling it will sit level instead of sagging. plus need some travel before contacting the 7 leaf overload springs....
