Suspension replacement

Good evening all,

Wanting to replace struts/shocks/springs on the 85' SR5. Rear: I have the Pathfinder springs and am leaning towards the KYB KG5762 mono-shocks. I will be moving the connection point for the stabilizer bars down as well.

Front: KYB 363045 inserts with Moog 81043 springs. Does the pigtail end create a problem? I believe stock would have been square or tangential?

Thanks for any and all help. I have searched oddles, but could not find a good part # or specs for the front All Trac springs.

the front springs ends are not shaped much, the lower one I think is kind of bent tangent, but the seat has a notch for the end coil to rest in anyway.

the rear spring is a little more shaped, but not much more. Usually the same dia spring will fit in the upper and lower seats just fine.

How did you come up with Moog 81043 springs? I'm scouring the interwebs to find the right Camry front springs.

Side note, anyone have a line on the spring hats for those as well?

Welcome to the forum. I haven't undertaken this project yet, but to answer your question, I scoured the Moog tables to find a spring very near the stock specs. I'm hoping to add a slight lift as well, but not from the springs.

If you could just give the Moog #, I've got their spring charts saved and can review. I would love to hear how yours turn out, it may change what I am thinking. Yes, these discussion boards are a great resource, one of the better benefits of the Internet in my opinion.

I also went ahead and ordered the parts for Petros Brake upgrade seeing as winter approaches and if I don't get this done before then, I'm not going to get it done.

If you want that list, I can send you that as well.

I ordered the parts from Autopartskart.com because they seemed to have great prices and it was easy for a Troglodyte to find and navigate their website.

but was just looking for 4wd replacement springs. mine are all saggy, and want it back to factory ride height.

Update on my setup:

Rear bolted right together.

However Moog CC254 springs for the front are a no go. They are not the correct diameter. I'm still on the hunt for front springs. Looking at used part pullers. Maybe I'll have more luck? Let me know if you guys come up with anything else.

Hey Trog,

I hope to do this work in the spring. After some research, I feel like the linked springs are very close to original spec. for the FRONT. I used the old NAPA spring recommendation for the 4WD Tercel w/AC I believe (spring no longer available), to land on these. Here is a link to Amazon that has them super cheap, can't confirm they are Moog, but that is how they are advertised.

As I recall, I tried to find a spring that nearly twinned the NAPA NCP 2775256. The stock spring without A/C is Moog CC214 I believe.

It looks like Moog quit making the CC214, but the specs listed are in the attached link (though not the easiest to find).

and here is a carID link for specs on the 81043 (look under the photo). As stated previously, I'm not certain about the pigtail end and it does have a heavier load rating (655# vs 570#) as well as being a stiffer spring (125 vs 100).

It starts out 0.44" shorter than the 214, I assume loaded length would be slightly higher as it idicates a 10" height on the 4Runner which is heavier.
If nobody else tries it out, I likely will. They appear to be about the same price many places.
