Can the ignition lock housing be removed from the steering column?
How? Is it easy? There is one at Pick & Pull waiting for me to remove.
I was told by a State Farm adjuster they had to replace steering column with lock housing attached,
but I kept the insurance money rather than having them do it.
My Speedy Blue was stolen last summer, got it back police found it 5 days later,
lock cylinder housing destroyed, so cylinder keeps coming out with the key.
I have it temporarily secured in place with bailing wire.

Re: Ignition Lock replacement?
its not too difficult. there is a bearing in it at steering column that might cause some problems getting it seperated
i would remove entire column

Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

Re: Ignition Lock replacement?
Yes you can remove it. It is held on by three bolts. One does not have a hex head on it but comes off easily with a pair of vice grips.

Re: Ignition Lock replacement?
it is not difficult to replace the whole column with the lock assembly in place.
You can remove the old lock cylinder and install yours so you can still use the old key, presuming the cylinder itself was not damaged.
