rear air shocks

has any one tried a set of air shocks on the rear?, I ordered a set from car quest this morning Monroe ma700 kit. comes 2 shocks and the air line kit, I am only looking for 1" to 11/2" lift in the rear to level it out, the price was not bad 2 good shocks were 50.00 each and the air shock kit was 125.00

yep, I have those shocks. However I never got to put them on my Tercel but have them on my corolla 4wd wagon which has the same rear end as the Tercel. They work great. I have kept the old stock springs in that were pretty saggy and the air shocks take the load when I need to rise up to an extra 10cm if needed. I kept the old springs o for two reasons. 1/ because then the shocks aren't working too hard against new springs when inflated and 2/when I air down to lowest (where I tend to keep it - around 45psi) it sits nice and low. Has a nice firm ride. Make sure you install the valves where they won't get fouled and tuck the tubes to the central valve out the way so they wont get snagged. I drilled a hole for the valve on my towbar. Hope that helps!

that's good to know, last year I made a spring spacer to put on the top of the spring 1 1/2" thick to lift the back, it made the ride a little bit rough, hope the air shocks will smooth that out with the same amount of lift

things went well, the shocks fit perfect took out my spring spacers and at 30psi gave me my 1" lift I was looking for. have not road tested yet but pushing down on the rear does not feel as stiff.

Looks good. Perhaps it will need to settle in a little? If it still is feeling soft perhaps you might want to look at some new springs to stiffen up the ride then. Mine must have been really soft as they really firmed it up.

Mattel, where did you buy yours from and what brand are they? Are they still available in Oz for the Tercel?

hi Jony off ebay they are exactly the same as these MA 700s http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Monroe-MA-70 ... SwAuNW7eVC they also are advertised for Commodores. just make sure they have these fittings on top of bottom also fit rwd corollas. good luck!

those are the same as mine,,, bit pricey mine were 127.51+tax 19.13=$146.64 in Canadian funds, from car quest not some thing off ebay

Mine were $40 plus postage and were NOS Had written on the box "terrible tercel" but from a garage that specialises in fixing unreliable english Triumphs I can only imagine that they would feel a bit defensive.
