Hey All,
Background: I towed home a '83 4wd about a month back and placed the front end up on jack stands. After replacing the timing belt I started it for the first time yesterday.
Problem: With the front end raised and the tranny in neutral I started the car. After releasing the clutch pedal and getting out of the car, I noticed the front drive train was receiving power (i.e. my rotors were spinning). I can change gears and even reverse the direction of rotors by shifting into reverse, however whenever I return to neutral and release the clutch pedal there is still power to the front wheels?
Can the neutral gear go out? Any thoughts?
I appreciate your time,
- Kyle

Take it off the stands and see if it's really in gear. I'll bet it's fine

Re: No Neutral Gear?
Pretty standard, gear oil is fairly sticky when it's cold, most cars with manual transmissions will spin the wheels in neutral when in the air.
