I just bought a 1984 Tercel Wagon for parts... the air conditioning works. I am selling the complete system... compressor, condenser, evaporator, interior flaps, wiring harness bits, plastic bits and hard lines.

$50 USD plus shipping. Buyer pays actual shipping. I am removing all of this air conditioning related hardware anyways, to remove motor and tranny (engine is giving up its head and transmission is being rebuilt).

The window of opportunity for the AC parts will be closed Tuesday (September 20th).

Thanks,
Teddy

Errrrr...

Ooops! The title is wrong. Its a 1984 Wagon, NOT a 1994.

Sorry.

Thanks!

How difficult would it be to swap these parts out on a car ?? I have an '85 with A/C, but it doesnt' work. Are they the same systems in an '84 and an '85 ??

MootsMan-

Presumably, all US Spec 83-87 Tercel Wagons received the same air conditioning components. I think the ONLY variable is the "California" cars (vs. the "Federal" cars, or 49 State cars) which wouldn't present enough of an engineering challenge to warrant concern.

Don't you live right down South from me, in Oregon?

No, I'm down south, Nashville TN area . I need to get someone to look at my system to see if they could tell me what's wrong with it. It hasnt' worked since we've had the car, going on 3 yrs now. I've always assumed it was the compressor that had gone bad, and just wasn't worth fixing, but it would be nice to have AC operational .....our summers here get pretty warm and humid.

Heh... My A/C is cold, I just almost never use it for mileage purposes.. It can be quite agonizing when its 106 Deg F out and the car has been sitting in the sun for an hour. Well, if my parents could deal with it in some of their cars, I can deal with it. Besides, who doesn't want a personal suana? lol. My main concern is getting my heater core fixed, because I may be able to withstand 135 deg F, but I CANNOT stand 35 deg F.

Oh, yeah, I'm with you on that Typrus.......I can handle summer without A/C, but winter without heat is a whole 'nother story !! And I'm sure it doesnt' get nearly as cold here in TN as it does there where you are in CO !

My thing is that I hate to pay a mechanic just to find out what is wrong with mine. Is it possible that it could just need a charge ?? or after several years of non-use is it likely that things are completely shot ??

Biggest issue with heater core R&R is the labor involved...espec if you have AC. Some cars can be a bear. Don't know about the T4WD though.

Mainly it's getting to it, replacing it, and putting in new hoses and clamps....and making darn sure you do it right...or you might get to dive right back in.....

I am with you re the heat issue. Missouri is cold, but not Rocky Mountain cold.
Last night I flicked the lever to Warm, but that state was not achieved...guess I'd better get busy.
MootsMan - if you work on the AC/have a pro look at it, please keep us informed of diagnosis and remedies. My AC does not work, but I don't know why yet. The compressor is barely turnable by hand (the belt has not been hooked up for years, as evident by the rust on the pulleys, and the electrical connection is unplugged). There may be other issues as well, but Spring is a bit away, while Winter beckons.
