Anyone ever tried fixing a rubber diaphragm like shown in this thread?

I figured I might try it on the vacuum advance first, since I know mine is ruptured, and it isn't going to hurt anything. It'll be a cheaper fix than having to buy a new vacuum advance.
Edit: Or like shown in this video, he used silicon, but it looks feasible!
