Parting out two parts cars, one 2wd and one 4wd

Post by Seanzy »

I recently had to buy a couple of parts cars as a packaged deal to fix the front end damage on my 4wd wagon. Both cars are of the 83-86 era. I will get the exact year of each. I wouldn't mind selling the whole 2wd outright, just to get it out of my way. I plan on keeping the 4wd around for myself, but I'm up for selling plenty of parts off of it that I don't need. I have more parts than I could ever possibly need. Let me know what you need. I'm located in Bluff City, TN.

Do you by chance have a complete set of locks (with key) out of one of the cars? Ignition, doors, hatch.

Is it a FWD Hatchback or wagon?

I need:

complete distributor
radio cowl for FWD wagon/hatchback (plus screws)
plastic trim around bottom of steering column (can give pictures)
passenger side mirror (probably off the hatchback if that is what you have)
front windshield washer pump (or just the whole reservoir with pumps attached if in good shape
front passenger door outside handle (mine sticks)
front facing air vents ( all four I think, will check )

also looking for a cluster with tach in the 170k mile range

if the 4WD is an 83 or 84, the passenger side mirror (flexible one)

Paul, just to let you know if you want a full set of keys, there is a difference with the ignition tumblers. The lock pin is in a different place. They aren't interchangeable with all the steering columns. I am not sure if it is a tilt steering or power steering difference.

If it is a non-AC car, I'm up for the blanking plate that fills the spot where the AC condenser is normally fitted behind the grille.
I'm also looking for the undertray/panel that mounts from below the radiator back to the X-member.
I'm in St. Louis.
Thanks,

Well, I see it shown here as "Protector," with a panel and two "side pieces," but there is also something shown in the diagram as "Cover;" dunno what that is - looks like it fits on the X-member itself ? ? ?

I think I should have most of what you need. The 2wd is a wagon and is an 85 model. The 4wd is an 84 model. It has done nothing but rain here for the past 4 days. I'm gonna keep the cluster in the 4wd, so I can't help you there, but I should be able to hook you up on the distributor, plastic under column, reservoir w/ pumps, pass handle, air vents, and the flexible mirror. I'll need to double check on a couple of them. I do have a complete set of locks, but I couldn't get the key to work on the gas door. It also stuck quite a bit in the hatch, but it did open it. I does work flawlessly in the doors and ignition though. I will check everything out this week. It might be the weekend by the time I get back to you. It's after dark, by the time I get home from work.

I'm not sure what this is, but I do have a non ac car. I'm guessing it's some sort of filler panel. I will check for it and the splash shield.

Awesome, I might need the internal lock stuff for the passenger front as well, as the whole thing is stucky.

how's the passenger side mirror on the 85 FWD? I might need more things, like the sunvisors and or clips. I'll take an inventory tomorrow.

I'm piecing back together an 85 hatchback that has been through the war!

The shield he's looking for is to the right of the radiator as you're looking at the engine from the front (driver side).

There's no rush.

I think it is ok. That car has one that is broken, but I'm pretty sure it is the driver's side. I believe it is the same mirror as the one on my 86. It doesn't fold away. I will get some pics of everything and post em up next weekend.

Seanzy -
As irowiki mentioned, it takes the place of the condenser.
A diagram of it is here - part #53289, but no description on the right side.

Yes I am...just keeping this and that off of it that I think I might need in the future. The 4wd is an 84. What parts are you in need of?
