best option for trans rebuild in Washington
best option for trans rebuild in Washington
im looking at purchasing an 87 tercel sr5 in washington, however the car has no overdrive. Im wondering if there are any renowned tercel trans specialists in the area? or used tercel yards? how difficult would the transaxle swap be? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

welcome to the forum. alh2411. do you mean it has no 5th gear?
i think the closest you will come to a tercel trans specialist in WA is forum member xirdneh. he seems to love working on them lately. you can look him up on here and send him a PM (private message) if you want to talk to him about that.
there is lots of info on here about swapping the trans or just the diff. use the search function found in the top right.

welcome to the forum,
do you mean you have a Tercel 4wd wagon SR5, that came without a 5th gear, or your 5th gear is not working? A 4wd trans should swap over without any issues, if you have 4wd wagon.
If you have an 87 Tercel sedan or hatch back than the trans is completely different from the 4wd 5 speed trans and will not fit.

Sometimes you can replace just the 5th gear, too.
