what a shame, that car is in near perfect condition, no wrecks. that usually means it had something mechanically fail and they choose not to fix it, and sell it to the wreckers instead.

I hate to think of the number of cars that end up at the wreckers because of a failed emissions test.
Mechanics unwilling or unable to do some simple repair work on a car they have deemed obsolete because they were trained on a laptop

I agree, though I could care less about the crap coming out of Detroit, and much of Europe for that matter. but any scarce vehicle that has redeeming value, reliable and fun to drive, or popular as a classic, yes, it is a shame. A lot of wrecking yards do not even bother to make them available for parts, they figure the market is so small for these cars they just send them to the crusher to sell as scrap. I shudder to think how many good Tercel4wd transmissions have met that fate.
