These cars actually had some pretty neat features for the time. Still today many cars don't have heater ducts into the back and the Power steering being speed sensitive variable is really ahead of it's time. allowing road feel at speed and lightness around town.. I can't fault it.

i believe air is only directed to the rear seat area when the controls are set to 'feet' or 'feet/windshield' so those would be the only times the block-off would have a real impact on the amount of air being pushed through up front. i often have whiny back seat passengers so i need those ducts.

I hope the A/c works it get up to 105F here in the summer. The guy said it just needs to be recharged, but then again everybody that sells a car with a broke AC says that. Good idea about the vents, I'm going to test out blocking them tomorrow.

The 86 I drive seems to have crappy airflow because it has that extra mix in the heater controls. Blocking off anything else should help. I'll try it.
