That would work (and I think it has been done before) but what limits the power output of the 3a engine is that obsolete head with the 8 tiny valves. A better mod is to use the 4age head on a 7afe motor, known as a "7age". lots of power, lots of torque, and the 3a flywheel will bolt right up to the 7afe crank too! Though I suspect it would be rather tall engine so you would have to put on a hood scoop.

I did some diggin for volvo rear end, cause I'm interested as well! I do not know if you could mate it to the u-joint section if so would be close to bolt on! In about a month there a performance stage in alberta, I'm treing to be on the list, if so I probably encounter the guys and ask them more about it or might just try to e-mail them see what happen! But from what I can see shouldn't be that hard here's a diagram:

Most info you may need:http://people.physics.anu.edu.au/~amh11 ... o_dana.htm
It's a bit different but you could use stock linkage I think, a good way to figure stuff out it's to go to a pik-n-pull spend half day trying shit out! If you bring your own parts show them cause they might charge you for it, it happen to me was so pissed off! Or if lucky enough you could find a posi from a ae86 but kind of tough to find here in canada!

That volvo rear axle has nothing in common with the Tercel4wd rear axle, I do not see a single compatible componet. You would have to fab all the mounts, links, arms, etc.

Get an All-trac rear axle and weld the diff solid, the housing should bolt right up.

So all-trac and the GTS axles will bolt right into the T4 mounts? I figured I'd just weld the diff but it'd be cool (and lucky) to find a LSD. Or, would it be a bad idea to run the T4wd rear end? I have the gearing for the auto trans in it currently. (I read it's different from the manual trans which would have the 4.10's in 1986?)

I like the idea of the 7ac because its simple to build-- no wiring for EFI and stuff. Plus it's easy to find a block. If things go as planned I'll be selling my 3ac early next week, so I figured I'd find a 4ac head and use that. (Doesn't the 4ac head flow a bit better than the 3ac's?)

Also, I'd want the t50 bellhousing out of a corolla sr5 or similar, right? Something with the starter on the driver side. So maybe the GTS is the only one that wouldn't work?

Here is a diagram of the corolla GTS:

Should be similar to T4wd!
