This thing was awesome. I tried a partial rebuild on the engine. However I screwed up on the head installation and it leaks about inch and a half at the seam near the alternator. You look at the pictures you can see it. It was also in a car accident and the driver's side next to the headlamp was rebuilt and welded together shoddily. I live at a co-op so I feel rude taking up a extra space just to rebuild this car again. It's registered in my name but it is not current as of this year. It starts, runs good, etc.
The front and rear disc/drum are worn down and the catalytic converter is cracked.
I'm actually kind of interested in this, it'd be a long drive for me but would be pretty fun I think! It would have to be next weekend before I would have time to make the drive though....
I think I know this car, I got it in seattle, fixed it up and I drove from Seattle to Austin Tx in July, for my daughter to drive. she drove it daily for a few years and fell in love it. But one day in heavy traffic she crunched the front. She was so disappointed, and was even willing to pay the money to straighten and fix the front because she loved the car that much (funny how these funky vintage wagons have that affect on owners). It was in great mechanical condition, just needed the sheet metal straightened out. But it was too costly for her to pay to have it done and I could not take the time to go there and fix it for her, without a full shop and proper tools it was not worth it. She had to settle on getting a newer Matrix.
Nice to see someone got it back together and on the road.
head gasket is a fairly easy fix, if that is all that it needs to make it road worthy someone could fix it in one afternoon and take it home.
