Hoping someone will help me price my Toyota Tercel 4X4 SR5

This forum is for cars that run, or at least are close to running. This isn't for parting out complete cars.

Hoping someone will help me price my Toyota Tercel 4X4 SR5

Post by NJLoregon »

Please see my new posting which lists this car for sale with some additional information.

Hi Everyone,
I am interested in selling my Tercel 4X4 SR5 wagon. I am hoping that members of this forum might help me determine the price I should ask for this car. I would love for the car to go to someone who will use it. Right now it is sitting in my garage because it has been hard for me to part with it.
I’ve included some pictures and here are some facts.
I am the original owner and have all the service receipts.
It has always been in Oregon except for 1 year in Albuquerque NM. I know of no rust except for a small area on top of the rear hatch which can be seen in one of the pictures.
It has almost 156,000 miles on it.
It easily passes Oregon’s DEQ requirements.
The muffler was just replaced.
The clutch was replaced at 152,795 miles.
It has been involved in two accidents. Someone backed into the driver’s front panel when it was parked. You can see it was repaired, but the paint job on it didn’t last.
It was also rear ended while at a stop sign. This was a relatively slow speed collision but some damage is still visible.
There are some other things that I know about it although I am definitely not a mechanic.
The outer C/V boots on both front drive axles are split.
There is a small oil leak at the valve cover gasket.
There is a small rock crack in the windshield. It was fixed but still visible. Hasn’t changed for at least 5 years.
The battery drains if the car is not used for a while, so I had a battery turn off switch installed under the hood. Except for this problem, the car has never given me any trouble.
I am happy to answer any other questions that would help forum members suggest a price.
Thanks in advance. It is nice to know that there are others out there who like these cars.

I would ask 1,500 in Reno.

It would sell for more up north in the PNW :oldgeek:

looks pretty good, and the recent clutch is a big plus. if it was mechanically perfect it would be worth ab out $3500 in the PNW, with the cv axles that likely need to be replaced, the the other items, perhaps $2500.

Really the car is in really good condition overall, I know in the Seattle area it would likely sell for $2500 without any problem. You might think about having the cv boots replaced, or the whole cv axle (less work than doing just the boot), and advertise it for $3000, make sure you list all of the good qualities first, and than list the few minor issues (that do not really affect the utility of the car) last.

Thanks for the help. I have made a new post on this site indicating it is for sale for $2500. I added some additional information about work that has been done to that post. If I don't sell it through this forum in a few weeks I guess I'll put it on Craigslist.
