The short post makes it sound not too shabby! Contemplating picking this up for myself, but I really shouldn't at this point. I'd be happy to check it out for any forum members. It's right down the street.

Re: 85 4wd automatic in Albuquerque
the automatic Tercel4wd do not have much resale value. some one gave me one with some carb issues, but otherwise in good shape, low miles too. After I got it running well, I could not sell it, so I gave it to my daughter to drive for a few years (until she crunched it, so she sold it for parts).
so unless you want an auto trans for yourself, it is not worth troubling over.
BTW, the carb adjustment is very sensitive, so make sure you follow the FSM procedure. If it is too lean it tends to stall out right off idle, which is real troublesome in heavy traffic (you have to put it in park, restart, and than put it back in drive with everyone honking at you).
One good thing the auto trans if fairly durable if not abused, change fluids and put additive in it, it will shift reliably.
Also, if you get it, make sure it has the double row radiator since the auto trans puts a heavy heat load on the cooling system, the single row radiator works okay for manual trans, but with the auto trans will result in overheating at highway speeds in hot weather.

Re: 85 4wd automatic in Albuquerque
It would sell for $1000-1500 or so up in Colorado if you waited long enough. Hmm.
Not too bad. Maybe if it is still around this weekend, $500 for a RUNNING 4WD Tercel is a bargain around here!
If you want to go kick the tires cro, and see if anything is amiss..
Someone swapped in the Tach, so don't believe the miles.
If the seats are shot we have a set of 85% good DLX seats.

If you have a donor car, you can convert it to a standard.
