Air con and a weber.
For those of you with a weber, how are you running your air conditioners? I recently got around to fixing mine last week and it works wonders up until I come to a stop. The idle drops so low that the compressor shuts off. I tried messing with that box that compensates for the idle?... and nothing. I figure there is a vacuum line somewhere that's supposed to raise the idle when the compressor is on? I am lost in the sauce right now. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Air con and a weber.
The thing that raises idle is for the stock carb.
It's a vacuum switch that when the AC is turned on, supplies vacuum to a little diaphram that then interacts with the throttle on the same side as the throttle positioner.
I'm not sure the weber would have the same thing. Perhaps it could be retrofitted?
Maybe raise the idle in the summer and lower it in the winter?
How is the AC working? After messing with mine for a while, I get 40's and below sometimes.

You might be right about raising the idle, might be my only option. I haven't gotten around to measuring the temp yet, but it was in the upper 80's yesterday and boy did it keep my cool. I think having tinted windows will help out a little better. The wife brought this to my attantion awhile ago. Half of my body is darker than the other. I should opt for window tint before I get skin cancer.

Re: Air con and a weber.
The only glitch is that it surges at idle in neutral (AT) with the compressor kicked on. I think my idle adjust diaphragm may be leaky.

Re: Air con and a weber.
Just got done doing a work around for you follow weber users. I'll post a few pictures now and a video later. First I bought this solenoid off of eBay for 20 something bucks I think it was. Made a small bracket and bent it to fit the solenoid next to the carb. Took the throttle cabke holder off and drilled a hole in the side of it to mount the solenoid. I also bent out a metal piece on the carb to allow the solenoid to hit when engaged. Wired in a small relay and it works well. Just need to do a few miner bends in the bracket and it'll be 100%.
Other files are too large. Will try to post later.

Re: Air con and a weber.
Did you wire it into the existing circuit that the AC used for the old carb?

Re: Air con and a weber.
Did the old carb have a solenoid for the a/c too? I just tapped into the lead hot wire at the compressor.

Re: Air con and a weber.
The old carb used a vacuum switch activated by the AC being on, so that would have made for an easy connection.

Re: Air con and a weber.
Now that I think about it, I did it all wrong. I just turned the car on and checked for power at the plugs without turning on the a/c. Woops.

Ah, well, I can find the connector using my stock car as a guide if you'd like, but this connector, that went to a vacuum switch, will get power with the AC on.
