1984 Tercel 4WD, Rust Free, Mechanic Special San Diego

It drives like a dream and handles nicely. The 4 wheel drive works flawlessly. The engine was rebuilt by a certified Toyota mechanic and has 17k miles on rebuild. Also in the past 4 months it has had a new weber carburetor installed with fuel pressure regulator, new timing belt and water pump, new alternator and battery, recent valve adjustment and compression check[ registered 175lbs in each cylinder], new fuel pump and fuel filter, new intake manifold gaskets, new radiator, distributor, new axle bearings, tune-up, new front brake rotors and pads, new rear brake drums and brake shoes.
It also has the very rare "compound" extra gear [besides the 5 spd] for extra power.
This vehicle is strong with no surprises, all glass is perfect and tires are good. The wheels have been upgraded to 14" wheels and tires.

There are plenty of lower cost cars listed but this may be ideal for someone not looking for a project, that was my situation but I'm moving forward with a 1997 Land Cruiser and don't have space for both.

Every 4WD Tercel MT wagon has the extra low 6th gear, so it isn't "rare" so much.

Also a "mechanic special" tends to refer to a cheap car needing a lot of work!

I like the color though. If I ever get a 4WD wagon again I might aim for it.

Hey folks. Just a note that I've seen this car in person, and agree that it's quite nice. I did not take it to a mechanic, but drove it about briefly, and spent a fair amount of time talking with the owner; He's a nice guy and I would've felt comfortable buying a car from him. Indeed, I almost bought this car for my restoration, but found a donor car that fits my needs better. (I'll post an update on all that soon, I promise.)

Cheers,

BT
