Re: Altenator
Mine did the same awhile back. Turns out my 83 uses an alternator with an internal voltage regulator. I bought an alternator setup for an external voltage regulator and it kept blowing that fuse.

Re: Altenator
welcome to the forum 84harvester,
usually you can not swap out the two types of alternators that come in the car, the connector is different, and on the later ones that use a completely different alternator, the mount is different.
If you are cleaver you can make it work, but you have to redo the wiring and either add an external voltage regulator, or remove it if you are installing an alternator with an internal voltage regulator.
Best bet is to just find the correct replacement alternator for your Tercel. The '83 and '84 tercel can use either type, and I am not sure there is a way to tell (manufacture date or whatever is not usually accurate way to determine which one you have). So the best way is to physically inspect the alternator and confirm which one you have installed, and than order that type for it.
