But the head gasket tercel I bought has one and I will probably steal it off of that before I sell it, so I thought I'd post it here.

i have a new reese hitch, came with a 92 alltrac I had, it was in the back seat never put on, looks similar to the curt hitches ive seen

if you are towing a real light trailer,,, I made one from a piece of 1 1/4 sq tube wielded 5/8 nuts in each end and used the rear tow hooks to attach it with bolts through the hooks, real light duty but it worked. on the asap thing even if I shipped it would take about 2 weeks I am in nova scotia Canada and the shippen would be 100.00

I doubt that would work, unless you are just buying it to weld in place. There is no good place to bolt that large flange to under the rear of the Tercel.

I made a hitch with just a heavy piece of angle iron that I bolted to the rear tie down lugs, than mounted the actual hitch in the middle. I used it to flat tow an 1800 lb car (a first gen honda CRX) about 400 miles. Though I would not recommend that much tow weight, I had to move my daughter's car with a blown engine half way across Texas. I was very careful with accelerations and slowing down.

If you have access to a welder you can fabricate a mount, even one that bolts up so you can remove it latter. I have seen one for the tercel that bolts to the bottom of the rear bumper, and had a tang that went under the car and also bolted to the bottle of the spare tire well. So the load was spread to both the lower pan of the car, and the rear bumper.

Either case, I would not tow anything very heavy with the tercel, the brakes are too light, and you risk damaging your clutch and transmission. Do it carefully, and install my brake up grade over in the repair guides section, and keep the tow weight low, it will work fine.
