Fuel tank vent issues

Hello again,
the previous owner installed a Spectra fuel tank in this 86 wagon. From day one of my ownership fueling is a very time consuming event. Also when the tank is empty or near empty and the cap is removed a serious amount of audible vapor pressure is released. Besides the possibility of the previous owner incorrectly connecting vent lines, what else under the hood like the charcoal filter and various vent valves could be causing this problem?

I would disconnect the charcoal filter and see if it accepts fuel better

You can also try putting compressed air and blowing it into the vent tube where it vents to the canister. Spiders love to make webs in those tubes for some reason.

Aftermarket tanks are a bear to fill. Factory tanks have a small pipe in the filler neck that allow air out to enable you to top up the tank. I find that if I park with the nose of the car a bit downhill, filling the tank is much easier.
