Hi, this may be a strange request, but I am in need of a gear that controls the position of the driver's side window. The gear that is ultimately attached to and maneuvered by the manual window control has been ground up into oblivion and leaves me with a window that cannot roll up all the way. I have a 1985 sr5 but I think maybe the window technology was about the same for those 2 years?

the window regulator is interchangeable across all model years of the 2nd gen Tercel4wd ('83-88), and all other model Tercels '83-86. rather than replace just the gear you should replace the whole window regulator assembly (the mating parts are likely badly worn as well), a good used one can be located and installed. Often some after market parts houses get brand new window regulators, search the internet, also check out Rockauto.com, sometimes they show up there as well as I recall.

I appriciate your reply, I just got this little thing and just love these cars, it is so clean minus the damage, only 113,000 miles, PO fell asleep at the wheel... Thanks a lot for the help.

Do you still have the tranny? Im looking for an automatic to replace in our busted 86 4x4 wagon. Or possibly a 6spd manual and rearend to do the swap.
