I can take out the brushes, I have the alternator with me now. The bearings are toast though. They won't open it and notice there gone or anything, right? Haha

Nah they don't care, and that's still fine. If your good a soldering then there's you an extra set of brushes if/when yours need replacing. I had an issue with mine not to long ago and was about to go somewhere and noticed my alt light was on, so I took it apart and replaced the brushes with some spares. She's still charging, it could get you by for a little while if your in a tight spot lol. I used some from an old Volvo alt. I've got a couple extra sets just in case haha. It's also a good thing to do if you go to a parts yard, because they definitely don't care haha.

those brushes look like they have a lot of life in them. save as spares.
'87 Tercel 4wd SR5 (current engine swap project)

She lives. It was just the burned out alt and the alt with the external vr that was causing the mishaps.
