Broke the hood release cable

Well, I was having issues with the release cable not actuating the hood latch. I checked the motion of the lever that the cable pulls on to release the hood, and nothing is wrong there. I'm not sure what was wrong with it before I made part of it rip, but anywho, the cable seems to be ruined. Is there a replacement that might fit? Could I maybe fabricate a cable and sleeve to replace it? It seems to me that these cables are all more or less alike, just with different lengths.

If I have to get a used one, I guess I'm ok with that, but it upsets me that I may have ruined a part and reduced the population of available used cables.

The hood latch is something that it relatively trouble free. I am sure there are lots around. Where are you located?

It will have to wait for a bit. I just remembered it the other day when I went to do some diagnostics on the Tercel. If I can land me a job soon...

I talked Zach into getting locking hood pins since the release is so easy to remove with the hood shut. I don't think most people would know that, but in my area it's not unusual for someone to steal old batteries and it is really inconvenient if they cut the cables to take it as well.
