Great Condition 86 SR5 - For your eyes first!!

Post by skyerunner »

Hey Folks,
I've been a forum member for a while, and this is my second T4WD. I just got a job in Kenai Fjords NP in Alaska and am moving up there with my GF in a couple weeks, so I had to upgrade to a Tacoma. I bought this Tercel in CA in October 2013 with a dead engine and ~168,000 miles on it. I found an engine with 64,000 miles on it and swapped it in. Since then I've done the rear Pathfinder/T-bird suspension (with old springs it sits level & swaybar is still in). Freshly replaced front suspension in June 2014. Interior is in great condition, has a Pioneer head unit that includes handsfree bluetooth phone calls from your smartphone - yep handsfree calling in a 1986 Tercel! It even has the much coveted rear hatch cover!

So, the issues with it:
Some knocking on acceleration and turns - ie. CV joints
Needs a long time (5-10 min) to warm up on cold mornings
Poor-ish gas mileage (about 25mpg)
Hot/cold switch broken (I have a replacement but just havn't gotten around to putting it in)
Left rear Taillight cracked (again, have replacement)

The Goods: Shifts perfectly, no slipping out of gear,
-engine only has ~87k on it,
-tires are 195/70/14 Hankook iPike with 90% in the front and ~%60 in the rear, 14" aluminum wheels
- alternator, battery, belts, H2O pump, timing belt, trans & diff oil have been replaced within the last 20k miles
- AC works! Seriously!

I'd love to get $3,000 for it "as is" but could also do the CV's and such for the cost of parts. The car is currently on the Front Range of Colorado, and I'll be posting to Craigslist this weekend...

Like every tercel I have owned, or own  Just a "feature" of these carbed cars.

What kind of wheels?

I absolutely LOVE that color. Unfortunately we're full up right now or I'd be jumping on this!

Hey,
The wheels are off a Mazda - I forget which one, grabbed them at the Denver Pick n Pull about 5 years ago. I do like the looks of them for sure.

Here's the post on Craigslist

Figured I'd offer you all a better deal than the general public.. :)
