San Diego area

Post by Gogogordy »

Not mine, I'd jump on this in a second but not in the position to do so a few weeks before April 15th

I hope someone here can act on this gem:

That looks like a good one, someone from the forum looking for a solid ride should snap that up.

I didn't know there were any Tercels in San Diego. I go there a lot and I've never seen a place with so many new cars. Even the hippies drive new SUVs. South Park is probably my favorite neighborhood in San Diego though, so it makes sense that there would be one hiding out there.

You could call the owner and tell them your a fan of the car and really want it.
Perhaps they will hold it for someone they belive will care for it.

Hey folks,

I'm Carmen and I'm guessing I'm the car from this Craigslist post. Not positive since it expired, but how many other 83 tercs could have been for sale exactly when I was?

Also mentionworthy, my new owner flew down from San Francisco area... Doing precisely what was mentioned earlier. Called the old owner and asked if they'd hold it while he flew down.

Was a long journey home, but we made it without a problem.

Will update as much needed maintenance happens. Probably alot!

Cheers folks, happy to join the ranks!

Thank you kindly :)

You folks have built up an impressive database of knowledge, should make my maintenance and repair quite a bit easier. Thanks for that!

I'll make a proper thread in the near future. I've got an interesting back story! 17 years in a garage with am average of 1,000mi/year! Meaning basically all my gaskets are probably bad aswell as my hoses :) Upper Rad hose is cccccccrunchy!

Most definitely! Today my tranny gets the 50/50 atf gear oil cleanout treatment, followed by fresh 25/75 :) Also new CV's. New upper and lower rad hoses too because the old ones are crrrrrrispy!

Hoping that will help with the terrible shifting 1st and 2nd, though I wouldn't be surprised if it's time for a rebuild.

A detailed thread of all things Carmen should be up today if he isn't too lazy!

Thanks for the welcome. Really excited to be a part of the community and hopefully run for another 500,000 miles!

for CV axles, i recommend staying away from any remanufactured ones. i just went through this recently and the reman i got was worse than the bad axle i already had in there. bought brand new empire axles from rockauto and no more clunking. they cost the same as the remans too, it's crazy.

Thanks for the heads up dlb, already ordered new ones. They're waiting @ Napa. $68 a peice.

When the price is so close like that it seems like it's always sensible to just go new.
