Re: Auto transmission won't shift up from first
Hello and sorry!
Didn't realize until this eve. there was continued activity on this thread. When I first discovered the trans. shifting problem, it was during last winter. During this past summer after rebuilding the rear brakes I took a drive an lord be hold it shifted without issues! This said I am pretty sure the cold contributed to the dirty problem. Have not yet had the opportunity to add the Trans tune, flush etc. Hopefully this summer, this car and my SR5 wagon will get the TLC that they deserve.

Re: Auto transmission won't shift up from first
When my 77 chevelle malibu did this it turned out it was a stressed vacuum advance line between the distributor and the transmission.
I had recently gone offroading with it and a branch must have damned it.
But I beat the 4x4 s-10 blazer due to my sheer advantage in weight, downed branches he had to crawl over I simply crushed to wood pulp under my wheels.

It takes more fossil fuel resources to produce new vehicles than it would take to maintain and fuel any 70's or 80's vehicle for a million miles.
