What do you think this one owner rust-free tercel would bring with the transmission and running good? 4k and up? I might be a little nuts but a used transmission, set of axles and a carb rebuild shouldn't cost more than $500 worth of parts, I will re-post on eBay once its drives and see where it goes

It would not bring that much in Dallas, TX no matter the condition. Perhaps in Colorado, Montana, Washington and Oregon it would bring $3000 to $3500. if it is was in good running condition since the car has a following in those mountain states. It is rare they ever go for more unless there is something particularly good about it like very low miles, in show room new like condition. A few perfect preserved (all original) very low mile examples have sold on Ebay for around $4000-5000, but most will go for under $2000. Many people try to get more, but they always take it off the market or have to lower the price. I am telling you this as someone that has bought and sold over 12 of these great little 4x4's, and own 3 right now.

If you want top dollar than the car has to be in good running condition, it is risky to buy a non-runer that you can not test drive. I have bought a number of non-runners and have always found other serious problems that had to be fixed, beside the ones the seller says ("all it needs is....and it will be a good car" that has never happened). You can not test drive a fixer and other issues will not be discovered until after you fix the known problems and get to drive it. And finding a good transmission could take a while, they have not made them since 1987, all of them are old, you can not get repair parts for them, and even if you could get parts, rebuilding them costs about $1000 or more. Good used ones, if you can find them, go for $350-500 or more, plus shipping. You will not likely find a good used 4wd Tercel trans in Texas (unless you get lucky), so it would have to be shipped. You say the trans is missing, what else is missing? mounts, bolts, fittings, etc? all will take time and money to track down. It will likely take much more than $500 worth of parts, and well over $1000 worth of labor (but likely much more), if nothing else is wrong with it. If it has not been driven for a while it will likely need new brake master and wheel cylinders, and full brake fluid flush. Without the trans and axles, at best the car is worth perhaps $500, and I have bought complete running ones for less in similar condition.

So either lower the price drastically, or find the parts and get it all together and running and try again. It will never get $1,750 in its current condition. As a good clean runner in mechanically good condition, everything working, it might get $3000, but not in Texas. I am not being critical of you, just trying to give you a more realistic picture of the value of these cars. Many of us have been active on this forum for a decade or more, and have bought and sold a number of these cars. If we could get $5k for them, we would!

Thanks for your input Petros, I'm going sit patiently to find the parts here in TX and fix it, I do all of my work from engine rebuilds to custom swaps so this tercel is a piece of cake in the labor department, We are are lucky to have online inventory look-up at the cars that come into row52 and pick-n-pull with alerts. Thanks again.

I see the one on eBay is currently at $4,500 with 3 days to go in Marietta, Georgia, maybe it will hit the 5k mark?
