Yes, the hatchback has a slide n' fold front seat or at least the '90 does. Good idea.
With luck, tonight I'll begin the construction on the tercelenstein.
Ideas???
the desert rat strikes again.
well i tryed to ralley my terc yesterday and i got a flat on the right rear. the tread actually failled and i got a tear/puncture in between the tread and flat surface. i lifted the rear end with spacers and i think that had something to do with it.
im going to fix the tire so i have a spare and drive till the wheels fall off. it was kinda cool changing a brand new tire sorta felt like i was being timed.
thank god for the tire kit. if i didnt have the whole set i would be still walking 20 hours later. the tire jack works great. good solid easy design.
hey i found an old bfgoodrich all terrain tire with 185/80/13 dimensions. the tread looked like it was really aggressive yet i cant find them new anywere. i think it has at least 2 maybe 3 ply. im going to call bfgoodrich cause there website sucks.
ohhh i went to walmart and got there 50 watt desert fox driving lights for 20 bucks.
and i took the hub cab clips off and tossed em. ive got 4 good hubcaps if someone wants em... hmmmm 20 bucks...
im going to get started on the back seat/roof rack this weekend.

Trailmakers? Hornbeam has a set of 155/80 13 Trailmakers. I don't think BFG makes them anymore.xaserII wrote: ...hey i found an old bfgoodrich all terrain tire with 185/80/13 dimensions. the tread looked like it was really aggressive yet i cant find them new anywere. i think it has at least 2 maybe 3 ply. im going to call bfgoodrich cause there website sucks.

So, I've put the racks on the roof and have started work on the interior. Everything goes in there pretty easily. I've decided in favor of the option in which the front seats slide forward and a little fold out panel flips down to add 10 inches of leg room. I may still do the rear fold out for cooking purposes, but I haven't gotten to the back end yet. This gives a total bed length of 6'6", which will just squeak me in there. Having the seats there will make a nice head rest for reading before bedtime. And, the fold down supports for the bed extension double as crude arm rests!
As for the spare tire issue that started this thread, I've decided to make a tire sized hatch and have the frame rest on the tire. It'll only be my feet down there, so this shoudld work fine even if it's not prefectly level.
One other cool addition: I'm putting in two small built-in coolers/wet suit containers. The way I've built this thing, there's about 6" between the rear doors and the nearest stud. I'm cutting, gluing, and sealing a rubbermade to fit exactly in this space. If I can make the lid (the lid of the container acts as one of the walls) water tight, then it will be a cooler. If not, it will remain as a wet suit holder. I hope the cooler works as the space is perfect for holding a frosty brew or two.

onium how bout some pics.
a little off topic+++
well i went up this really steep ass hill yesterday and had to put it in 4 wheel drive in the el gear to make it. that low gear is great for steep rocky trails as well as coming back down to give the brakes a break. im going to make a roof rack today i think. not much else going on so its a good day to do it.
im going to go with a rectangular box (one inch square tubing) about 8 inches high with some kind of steel mesh around the sides. also i will use plywood for the deck of the rack and then paint everything black.
not a 100% sure how to mount it to the roof of the car but will explore many ideas that im sure will come to my head during fabrication.
